Red and Gold Tequila Sunrise Jell-O Shots 🍒
For The Cherry Layer:
1 (3-ounce) package of cherry Jell-O powder
1 cup of boiling water
¾ cup of tequila
¼ cup of grenadine syrup
For The Orange Layer:
1 (3-ounce) package of orange Jell-O powder
1 cup of boiling water
½ cup of tequila
½ cup of fresh-squeezed orange juice from 1 to 2 large navel oranges (pulp strained out)
PREPARATION
Begin by placing 18 (2-ounce) Jello shot/condiment cups on a rimmed tray and setting them aside.
Prepare the cherry layer first by adding cherry-flavored Jello gelatin powder and boiling water to a large mixing bowl with a pour spout. Stir until the gelatin powder is completely dissolved.
Combine the tequila and grenadine syrup with the cherry liquid. Mix thoroughly.
Pour the cherry liquid slowly into each of the 2-ounce plastic cups. Fill each cup to about a third to half of its capacity.
Refrigerate the cups for at least two hours before proceeding to the next step.
To prepare the orange layer, add orange-flavored Jello powder and boiling water to a large mixing bowl with a pour spout. Stir until the gelatin powder is completely dissolved.
Add tequila and fresh-squeezed orange juice to the orange liquid. Mix thoroughly.
Once the cherry layer has fully set, pour the orange liquid carefully onto the cherry layer in each cup, filling the cups to the top.
Refrigerate the cups for an additional 3 to 4 hours until fully set.
Finally, garnish each Tequila Sunrise Jello shot with a small wedge of fresh orange and a maraschino cherry.
